Plans have been put on hold for a new athletic facility at Virginia Tech.
According to a report from WDBJ7, on Tuesday the university nixed plans to build a new facility on a spot home to trees that date back 300 years.
A number of students, environmentalists, and neighbors didn’t like the idea – an online petition to save Stadium Woods had 10,000 signatures on it.
Stadium Woods is about 15 acres, according to the report – and it’s behind Lane Stadium at Virginia Tech which made it a good spot to build a new indoor football practice facility.
