(CNN) — Ryan Lochte’s found a partying pal in Prince Harry, but he sounds a little relieved that he missed out on the royal’s recent clothing optional get-together.
The Olympic champ and the prince met for the first time in Las Vegas at a pool party over the weekend, when Harry challenged Lochte to a race.
“We were at the same pool party, and his people came over to my table and said, ‘Hey, Prince Harry wants to meet you,’ ” Lochte recalled to Matt Lauer on “Today.” When Harry asked for a swimming showdown, off the shirts came and into the pool they went.
“He’s part of the Royal family and everything, but he’s really a nice guy,” Lochte said of Harry. “He’s really talkative, and he just wanted to meet me, and honestly wanted to race me. I thought that was the coolest thing.”
The two parted ways after their race, and Lochte’s not bummed he didn’t get an invite to Harry’s other kind of “pool” party – one that involved a game of strip billiards.
“I’m kinda happy,” Lochte said with a chuckle. “I don’t need that.”
Probably not, as Lochte’s preparing to focus on going for the gold once again — he’s headed right back into training on Monday for the 2016 Olympics.
