According to officials, Capt. Andrew Loiselle, Commanding Officer of the USS Gunston Hall , relieved Command Master Chief Kelly Smith, the command master chief of the Virginia Beach-based dock landing ship on Sept. 8 for alleged misconduct.
Officials say the officer was relieved during an ongoing investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior. Smith has now been reassigned to the Naval Surface Force, Atlantic.
A permanent relief has not yet been identified.The ship is now in-port Manama, Bahrain.
