After school activities are cancelled for the following:

Virginia Beach City Public Schools; Norfolk Public Schools; Suffolk Public Schools; Williamsburg-JCC Schools; and Dare County Schools.

A Tornado Watch is in effect until 7 p.m. for Hampton Roads and Northeastern North Carolina. The first line of showers/storms is tracking along I-95.   Expect severe storms this afternoon through tonight, with the potential for damaging wind gusts and tornadoes.

Myles Henderson’s Afternoon Forecast:

Tracking severe storms – A cold front will move through the region today, bringing widespread rain, severe storms, and changes in temperatures.

Expect a few scattered showers out ahead of the system today as highs reach to the mid 80s. The best chance to see rain and severe storms will be this evening.

We are in the “slight risk” category today with an elevated threat for high winds and tornadoes.

Rain will taper off on Wednesday and highs will only reach into the mid 70s with lower humidity. 

Today: Mostly Cloudy, Showers/Storms(70%). Highs in the mid 80s. Winds: S 10-20+ mph

Tonight: Mostly Cloudy, Showers/Storms(70%). Lows near 70. Winds: S/W 10-20 mph

Tomorrow: Mostly Cloudy, Scattered Showers(30%). Highs in the mid 70s. Winds: N 10-15 mph

Tropical Update

Tropical Storm Nadine remains in the open Atlantic and continues to weaken. Nadine is expected to track northeast over the next several days.
