86-year-old man robbed in Newport News

Police need your help to find a suspected robber.

They say at around 11:50 a.m. on Friday morning,  an 86-year-old Newport News man was in his home in the 200 block of Tyler Ave. when someone opened the his screen door and came in.

Police say the suspect displayed a hand gun and robbed the man of his wallet which contained his cash, credit cards and personal papers.  

They say the suspected robber left the home and went southbound on Tyler Avenue on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male between 18-20 years old, he is about 5’5” – 5’8″ tall, and thin. He wore a dark blue shirt and dark pants.
