Naval Station Norfolk celebrates Fleet Week Hampton Roads

Below is a statement from the U.S. Navy on Fleet Week Hampton Roads Festivities:

Norfolk, VA. — In celebration of Fleet Week Hampton Roads, Naval Station Norfolk will host the “2nd Annual Fleet Fest” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. 

The event is open to the public and includes ship tours, static displays, live entertainment by the United States Fleet Forces Band, a car show and a chowder cup challenge. 

Headlining this year’s Fleet Fest will be amphibious assault ship, USS Bataan (LHD 5), the guided missile destroyer, USS Ross (DDG 71) and the guided missile frigate, USS Nicholas (FFG 47).  The ships will be open for public tours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

New this year, the event will include a Chowder Cup Challenge where commands on base compete for the best Naval Station Norfolk Chowder.
