On September 28, 2012 investigators charged a suspect in the murder of Laurie Escobar, a Virginia Beach woman found dead in an Oceanfront apartment complex located on 16th Street, which happened on August 21.
The suspect, 32-year-old James Jerome Brooks, is charged with Murder, Abduction, and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
Brooks is currently being held without bond in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.
This case remains under investigation.
