Police have identified the 16-year-old who was shot and killed overnight in Newport News.
The victim has been identified as 16-year-old Ricky La ‘Twan Platt.
It happened around midnight Tuesday morning. Police say at 12:05 a.m. officers responded to the 100 block of Heritage Way to a report of shots fired. As officers were investigating, they discovered a deceased male lying on the ground suffering a gunshot wound to the torso.
