Norfolk, Va. - A child was involved in a very brief standoff at Norfolk General Monday night.

According to Sentara spokesman Dale Gauding, a man arrived at the hospital with the 2-year-old child wanting to see his estranged girlfriend, who was having a baby.

Hospital staff called security and Child Protective Services, who decided it was in the best interest for CPS to take custody of the child.

The man refused and when police were called he briefly barricaded himself in his estranged girlfriend's room.

After about 10 minutes the man surrendered to police.
