A Norfolk man was arrested after turning himself in on Saturday, November 3, 2012, for robbing an electronics store in Newport News back in October.

Newport News police have arrested 26-year-old Marcus Troy McBride, of the 1300 block of E. Ocean View Avenue in Norfolk. Officials say McBride was extradited from Colorado before he decided to turn himself in.

McBride remains in the custody of the Newport News City Jail, with no bond. He is facing charges for abduction, robbery, conspiracy to commit a felony, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The original incident happened on October 2, 2012. Police say around 10:59 a.m., officers responded to reports of a business robbery located at 10738 Jefferson Avenue at the Mega Bass Store. Officials say two unidentified black males entered the store, waited for a customer to leave, and then robbed the store’s owner. One man produced a handgun and demanded the owner open the safe. The owner stated there was no safe. The men proceeded to tape the owner’s hands to his sides, and then moved him to a back room. The men took cash from the store register, a laptop computer from the counter, and a computer storage device. They ran away after taking the items.
