The Dare County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warming to residents about a possible phone scam in the area.
They say the calls are coming from the number (415)952-5630, and the caller states that he is representing a law firm or an internal affairs firm regarding an unpaid pay day advance loan.
The caller has a thick foreign accent and is using the names Ben Williams, Mark Williams, Mike George, Michael Carter, Michael Brown, Daniel Thompson, Alex Watson among others.
Officials say the calls are not legitimate and have been reported in other jurisdictions.
Please do not give any personal information to any caller over the phone.
