Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk fire crews responded to the 2400 block of East Virginia Beach Boulevard around 9:27 a.m. Monday morning, after receiving reports of a fire alarm activation.

Captain Mike Hicks of the Norfolk Fire Department says it appears that the fire originated in a trash chute. Crews contained the fire shortly after responding. Officials say all occupants have been evacuated, and no injuries have been reported.

Crews are currently trying to locate the cause and nature of the fire. Units are still on the scene, and the building has been evacuated.
