Update: Arrest made in Hampton shooting death

Hampton, Va. - Hampton police have made an arrest after a woman was shot to death on Tuesday.

Hampton police arrested 31-year-old Traer Ramon Tisdale of the first block of Santa Barbara Drive in Hampton. Tisdale was arrested on November 28, 2012, at approximately 4:00 a.m., without incident and charged with one count of Murder, one count of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and one count of Shooting in an Occupied Vehicle. He is currently incarcerated in the Hampton City Jail.

Police say the homicide occurred on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. At approximately 5:40 p.m., Hampton police received a w-911 call in reference to a shooting in the 1200 block of West Avenue. Officers, along with members of the Hampton Fire and Rescue Division, responded to the scene and found 29-year-old Lekeia Moneke Griffin of Hampton, suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

Police say the victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she died at 6:31 p.m. as a result of her injuries.

Police say the victim was sitting inside of a vehicle outside of her residence in the 900 block of Mason Street, when the suspect approached her vehicle. Police say the suspect then began to speak to her, and then shot into her vehicle. The woman drove herself to the hospital after being shot. The suspect then ran away from the scene. Police say the two knew each other.
