A Kill Devil Hills man reportedly tried stealing drugs from a Walgreens.
Thirty-year-old Martin Hardy is now charged with armed robbery.
On Saturday, police say he handed a Walgreen's pharmacist a note saying he had a gun and demanded narcotic pills.
When he saw the pharmacist calling for help, he jumped the counter to try and stop her, but then he ran away.
Police arrested him a short time later.
