Beach man charged in fatal shooting

Posted

A 35-year-old Virginia Beach man is facing several charges after he was accused of fatally shooting a man earlier this month.

Police say on December 8th at around 4 a.m., a call came in about a man who claimed he shot someone who tried to rob him in the 900 block of Virginia Beach Blvd.

Police found the victim and alleged robbery suspect, identified as Edward Dale Chapple, who had been shot. He was transported and pronounced dead at the hospital.

The suspect was identified as Ryan P. Brown.

Police say Brown told detectives what happened but after an investigation, they say the events reported did not match their findings.

During their investigation, police say they also determined that Brown was responsible for the December 4th Chanello’s Pizza Robbery on Aragona Blvd. where two employees were shot.

Both victims were transported and treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

Brown is currently being held with no bond in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.

He has been charged with second degree murder, malicious wounding, robbery, use of a fire arm and grand larceny.

Police are still investigating this case.
