Norfolk, Va. - “I’m very hurt, I mean, this is something I can't imagine even happening to me."
Clifton Little, Sr. is dealing with a huge void in his life now.
He says his son, Clifton Jr., was shot and killed in Norfolk.
"That was my first born son. I couldn't imagine nothing like this happening to my child, I mean, that was my first born son."
Police have arrested 19-year-old Kaleel Spencer Mayhan of the 17000 block of Greenleaf Dr. in connection with the homicide. Mayhan has been charged with Murder and Use of a Firearm and is being held in the Norfolk City Jail.
Police were called to this housing complex along off Greenleaf near Campostella just after 3pm Saturday afternoon.
They found one person had been shot, who was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Police tell NewsChannel 3, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Clifton's family says the 17-year-old had plans to graduate Green Run High School, where he'd been playing football.
"I coached him in football from 5 all the way up to 14 years old. We used to travel together to Miami. I mean, he'd been to Miami like three times in championships, so, that's a whole lot of stuff that's going to hurt me. That's it." Says his father.
The family says they know there are still a lot of unanswered questions in this investigation.
But whether this was an accident or not, Clifton's father says one thing's for sure; "guns are no joke, so if you think you want to play around with a gun, anything can happen, so, the only thing I can do is just try to raise his other five siblings and just pray."
