Woman arrested for assault in Newport News

Newport News, Va. – Police have made an arrest after they say a woman was hospitalized in a domestic altercation on Monday afternoon.

Police say around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013, officers responded to a report of a ‘domestic situation’ in the area of 76th Street and Chestnut Avenue.

Officers arrived to find the victim, a 30-year-old Hampton woman, suffering from a laceration to her face.

The victim told police she had been involved in a verbal altercation with her girlfriend that turned physical, with the suspect striking her in the face with an object. The victim was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect, 28-year-old Lisa Leigh Allie, of the 600 block of Ridley Circle in Newport News, was arrested around 5:45 p.m. on February 4, 2013 in the 7600 block of Chestnut Avenue. She is charged with malicious assault.

Allie was placed in the custody of the Newport News City Jail.
