Hampton, Va. – Hampton police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a homicide that occurred on September 6, 2012.
According to police, at 9:32 p.m. on September 6, Hampton Police Communications received a call in reference to a shooting that occurred in the first block of Pacific Drive. When police arrived, they found the victim, 52-year-old Sam Edward Small, inside his home suffering from a single gunshot wound to the upper torso.
The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
On September 14, the victim died as a result of his injuries.
Police say that a verbal argument ensued inside a residence between the suspect and victim, who were known to each other. During the argument, the suspect brandished a handgun and shot the victim.
The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Davon Pierre Brooks with a last known address in the 2000 block of Victoria Boulevard.
Brooks was arrested on February 21, 2013 on outstanding warrants for one count of Homicide, two counts of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, one count of Aggravated Malicious Wounding, and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
He was taken into custody by the Chesterfield Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force in the 600 block of Cottonwood Drive, Petersburg, Virginia. He is currently incarcerated in the Hampton City Jail.
