(CNN) — It’s been rumored that “Dexter’s” eighth season was going to be its last, and CBS Corp. President and CEO Les Moonves seemed to confirm as much on Monday.

Moonves, whose CBS Corp. includes Showtime, was discussing the cable network’s programming at the 2013 dbAccess Media & Telecom Conference.

A moderator asked what’s coming up in terms of original programming, and Moonves said that a new Liev Schreiber project, “Ray Donovan,” is on its way.

(Curious about that program? According to IMDb, Schreiber will star as a “fixer” for Los Angeles’ rich and famous set. It seems he can erase everyone’s problems but his own.)

“Ray Donovan,” according to Moonves, “comes on with ‘Dexter’s’ last season starting in June.”

Moonves’ statement echoes what Showtime president David Nevins told Entertainment Weekly back in 2011, which was that “everybody is operating under [the] assumption” that seasons 7 and 8 would be the end of “Dexter.”

Whether it really will be the final season or not, fans of the serial killer drama can expect it to return to Showtime on June 30.
