New fire reported on the Eastern Shore

Temperanceville, Va. – State police are investigating yet another fire on the Eastern Shore. An abandoned two-story residential building burned to the ground around 1:37am in the 28500 block of Saxis Road in Temperanceville. No injuries were reported.

The blaze is the 10th in the area since Saturday.

Over 60 arsons have been reported on the Eastern Shore since mid-November.

Anyone with information about the arsons is asked to call the Virginia State Police toll-free at 1-800-582-8350 or (757) 424-6820; or call the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office at (757) 787-1131. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information on the Accomack County fires that leads to an arrest and conviction.

In Virginia, burning an unoccupied dwelling is a Class 4 Felony that carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000.
