York County, Va. --On Tuesday, an adult allegedly made a potential threat against a student at York County Schools.

Students and parents received a message about the potential threat today. The schools were not placed on lockdown, but the doors remained locked.

Deputies conducted extra patrols today, and they will continue to do so for the next few days.

School officials sent the following message to Parents: “This is an important message for parents of students at York River Academy and Yorktown Middle School.  I’m calling to inform you of a situation that we are monitoring. School administrators received a report of a potential threat regarding a student which was made by an adult.  As a precautionary measure, administrators and staff are checking all exterior doors to ensure that they remain locked as they normally are during the school day. Students are continuing their normal activities within the schools. Once again, this is a precautionary measure while school leaders work with local authorities to investigate the reported threat.”
