Hampton, Va. –Five people were displaced and a dog died in a fire in Hampton on Tuesday morning.
Fire crews responded to the call at about 10:20 a.m. in the 500 block of Day Street in the Wythe section.
When crews arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the single family home.
The fire was under control within 10 minutes officials say.
The dog was pulled from the home but it was deceased.
No one else was injured crews say.
There were no working smoke detectors in the home.
