Update: Thankfully, one person was able to escape a house fire in Hampton before crews arrived. No one else was hurt.
Hampton, Va. - Crews in Hampton were on the scene of a residential fire on Tuesday.
They fought flames at a home on Smith Street. That's off of Shell Road.
Crews on the scene said there was heavy fire coming from the residence.
NewsChannel 3 learned one person was in the home and was able to get out safely before crews arrived.
No one was hurt.
The fire started in a large room area of the house, but the fire department has not determined which room yet.
