Newport News, Va. – Seven people were affected by a house fire in Newport News Wednesday morning, fire officials tell NewsChannel 3.
Firefighters responded to the scene of a two-story house fire in the 900 block of 12th Street. Crews arrived on scene at 10:09 a.m. Smoke was seen coming out of the burning home.
Firefighters say the fire was contained to the basement, and appears to have started in the area of the panel box.
There was smoke damage to the home. All occupants made it out of the home before fire crews arrived. Seven people were affected.
