Portsmouth, Va. – Elizabeth River Crossings (ERC) will conduct tide gate testing at the Midtown Tunnel on Sunday, April 7, from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m.
The tide gate and associated roadway drain valves are being tested as part of ERC’s preparation for the Atlantic Hurricane Season which begins June 1. Tide gate testing at the Midtown Tunnel is conducted every six months as part of the regular tunnel maintenance schedule.
All traffic will be detoured to the I-264 Downtown Tunnel while the test is being conducted.
