Man charged with shooting into vehicle near Elizabeth City iHOP

Elizabeth City, NC - A man in Elizabeth City has been charged after police say he shot into a moving vehicle near the Halstead Boulevard Ext. by the iHop Friday morning.

This happened at about 12:30 a.m. police say.

A caller told police that they saw several people in a dark Dodge Charger hanging out of their vehicle to shoot at two others in a white Mustang. They were headed toward Walmart and the US 17 Bypass.

Officers were able to catch up to the individuals in the Dodge Charger. Five people were detained and questioned while police charged one man, Tremaine Tobias Harris, with discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.

Police say they found a .380 caliber Rugar handgun on the side of the road near the traffic stop.

Bond has been set at $250, 000 for Harris.

Police say more charges could be coming.
