London – How much would you pay for an egg? How about $101,813?
That’s how much someone paid for a fossilized egg at Christie’s Auction in London on Wednesday according to the International Business Times.
The pre-17 century egg belongs to an extinct elephant bird and it measures 8.75 inches in diameter. It was found in Madagascar.
These birds did not fly and weighed up to 1,000 pounds. Their eggs were so huge, they could serve as a meal for an entire family the BBC says.
