Man wanted for Sunday shooting at an Elizabeth City trailer park

Elizabeth City Police say they are looking for a 21-year-old man after he allegedly shot another man in a trailer park on Sunday afternoon.

Police say they responded to Hickory Village Mobile Home Park off River Road just after 2:00 p.m.

Witnesses and callers told officers they heard gunshots coming from the area of Lot 99 and two subjects were seen running from the area.

Officers searched the area but were unable to find a suspect or victim.

A short time later, police were called to Albemarle Hospital in reference to a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the upper thigh.

The victim, Raymond Scott, is a resident of Lot 108 at Hickory Village. He was questioned by officers and it was found that the suspect was 21-year-old Bennett Henry, Jr., also a resident of Hickory Village Lot 99.

Henry is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, and inflicting serious injury.

Henry is described as a black male, approximately 6’2’’, and 160 pounds.
