Currituck Co., N.C. – A woman in Currituck County told deputies that she was sexually assaulted by a suspect impersonating a police officer, but now she has confessed that she made the whole thing up.

The woman initially made the report to authorities on April 4th and investigators say they found inconsistencies in the story.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they say the woman was lying on the ground next to her vehicle.

She told deputies that a man driving a white vehicle with a blue light in the window stopped her on 158 in Barco. She also told them he asked her to get out of the car and then punched her in the face and sexually assaulted her.

She was then taken to the hospital for injuries that turned out to be self-inflicted according to officials.

No charges have been filed against the woman.
