Richmond, Va. – Virginia ABC has opened a new store in the Northampton Crossing Shopping Center, at 5832 Northampton Blvd. in Virginia Beach.
Although the store has been servicing customers for nearly two weeks, a grand opening is scheduled 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 8.
This newest Virginia Beach location was strategically chosen, officials say, to meet market demands and better serve the busy Northampton/Diamond Springs corridor.
The neighboring ABC store is in Haygood Shopping Center on Independence Boulevard.
The Northampton store measures 3,104 square feet, carries approximately 1,954 items and will employ four people — a manager, a relief assistant manager, a lead sales associate and a clerk.
“We’re eager to welcome customers, answer their questions, fulfill special requests and, ultimately, adjust the store’s product mix to accommodate their tastes,” said Wilson Jones, director of retail operations.
Regular store hours will be 10 a.m.−9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1−6 p.m. Sunday. The first 25 customers will receive a free, non-alcoholic gift.
ABC has opened 80 stores in the last 10 years and plans to open 20 more in the next three years. Currently, 98 percent of Virginia’s population resides within 10 minutes of an ABC store. Store locations and relocations are strategically chosen to meet market demands and better serve the people of the commonwealth.
The Northampton store, located next to Krispy Kreme Donuts, is the 14th store in Virginia Beach and the 343rd store in the ABC network.
