The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control has a new weapon in their arsenal.
The agency has acquired a new state-of-the-art field support vehicle to serve as a centralized command post at large-scale events where alcohol enforcement operations are routine.
The mobile post is equipped with computer workstations, VoIP telephones, television and radio systems. It also includes satellite television and a satellite uplink for communications in remote areas of the state.
It will be available to other state agencies who don’t have similar technology.
Eight ABC enforcement agents will be trained to drive the vehicle and eight to 10 will be trained to operate the on-board electronics.
The $750,000 vehicle was paid for entirely be asset forfeiture funds, not taxpayer funds.
