Suffolk, Va. – Suffolk Fire and Rescue and Suffolk Police are currently on the scene of a gas leak in the 1600 block of Bridge Road.
A contractor laying fiber optic cable cut a gas line while digging in the area, and dispatch was notified at 8:39 a.m., according to Suffolk City Spokesperson, Diana Klink.
No evacuations were required. Columbia Gas was on scene and the gas line has been secured, officials say.
Both northbound and one southbound lane in the 1600 block of Bridge Road are open at this time. The remaining lane should open momentarily.
