Police investigate gunshots at Franklin apartment complex

Franklin, Va. – Police are looking for answers after two people were shot in Franklin over the weekend.

It happened on Sunday, May 19. Police responded to reports of multiple gunshots fired at the Dorchester Square Apartments at 2 a.m.

When police arrived, no one was outside and the complex was quiet. Officers were approached by a resident of the “A” section who informed them that bullets had struck her apartment.

Police say two bullets had penetrated the apartment, and were recovered from the interior; no one inside the apartment was injured.

Officers also recovered several cartridge casings from the “L” section of the complex.

Police then received a call from Southampton Memorial Hospital that two shooting victims were in the emergency room. One of the victims, 30-year-old Rasheen S. Malone, was being treated for two gunshot wounds to his buttocks. The other victim, 28-year-old Christopher T. Woodley, was being treated for a superficial gunshot wound to his right leg.

Police say neither victim would cooperate with police.

Officers attempted to interview witnesses to the crime who were in the waiting area, who also refused to cooperate.
