Virginia Beach, Va. - Police say 23-year-old Mattiele Romer was gunned down by her husband last weekend. Friends and family called her Matti. 25-year-old Kendal Romer is behind bars accused of killing her inside their Virginia Beach apartment.
Friends tell NewsChannel 3 that Romer is in the Navy, which is what brought the couple and their three-year-old daughter to Virginia Beach from Florida last year. Matti was working on her career. She started nursing school in December.
A caring, happy and very positive person: that's what friends say they'll never forget about Matti.
On a Facebook page to remembering her one person wrote: “She will be missed by all and I pray that her beautiful little girl grows up knowing how much her mommy loved her.”
The biggest question friends still have, though, is why? Police have not said anything about a motive.
