Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle fatality on Rt. 460 eastbound, approximately 2 miles west of Rt. 618 in Southampton County on Monday morning.
Police say a 1990 Ford van driven by Claude Thomas Dove, Jr. of Chesapeake was traveling eastbound when he ran off the road and struck a tree.
Mr. Dove was not wearing a seatbelt and died of his injuries. Alcohol was not a factor.
