Twenty-four schools in Virginia may not have to worry about the pressures of some third-grade tests.
The schools applied for waivers from mandatory testing requirements in some subjects - so teachers can spend more time focusing on reading skills.
Seven schools from Hampton Roads have applied.
They include three schools in Norfolk.
Those schools want to be exempt from science, history and social studies SOLs.
Four schools in Hampton applied to be exempt from the science SOLs.
The names of the schools are as follows:
Norfolk:
Jacox, P.B. Young, Sr., and Tidewater Park Elementary Schools
Hampton:
Cesar Tarrant, Jane H. Bryan, John B. Cary and Paul Burbank Elementary Schools
