UPDATE: Man hospitalized after crashing into tree in Norfolk

Norfolk, Va. – A man has been hospitalized after crashing into a tree in Norfolk Friday morning, police tell NewsChannel 3.

It happened at 8 a.m. Fire crews responded to the accident in the 1100 block of Azalea Garden Road. The vehicle was traveling southbound when it struck a tree. The driver behind the victim reported seeing him slouch down before the crash.

Crews worked to get the victim out of the vehicle safely after he was trapped inside. They say the victim is in his 30s.

The 1100 block of Azalea Garden Road between Princess Anne Road and Virginia Beach Boulevard is now closed.

Police say the victim is in “critical but stable” condition.
