Hampton, Va. - A man was shot to death outside of a Hampton 7-Eleven Wednesday night.
Police say the shooting happened around 11:19pm in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven located at 1401 West Queen Street.
They arrived to find 27-year-old Robert Jason Sheene of Hampton had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Sheene and other known individuals had gotten into an altercation. Firearms were brandished and Sheene was shot.
Marcus Antonio Pelham, 33, of Hampton has been arrested and charged with one count of possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics, one count of narcotics with the intent to distribute, and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Hampton Police say the incident has strong drug overtones.
The incident remains under investigation.
