Woman charged for assaulting Beach gift shop owners during robbery

Virginia Beach, Va. – A woman is now behind bars after police say she assaulted two Beach business owners during a robbery on Wednesday evening.

It happened on Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at approximately 8:05 p.m. Emergency Communications received a call for a shoplifting incident at South Beach Gifts, located at 1102 Atlantic Avenue.

Police say the female suspect concealed merchandise and was confronted by the female victim, who is the store owner.

The female suspect assaulted the female victim, and left the business without paying for merchandise.

The suspect then ran away, as two victims chased after her. The victims are the business owners, and are husband and wife.

Police say the victims chased after the suspect onto the beach. The victims caught up with the suspect and the suspect again continued assaulting both victims. Police arrived on scene and the suspect was taken into custody.

The male victim collapsed after the assault and was transported to a local hospital. He remains in critical, but stable condition.

The suspect is identified as 25-year-old Angela Marie Quackenbush of the 9400 block of Deer Range Road in Moseley, Virginia.

Quackenbush is charged with Robbery, Simple Assault, and Resisting Arrest. She is currently being held without bond in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center.

This case remains under investigation.
