Dare County, N.C. – A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Dare County. As Tropical Storm Andrea continues along the forecast track into North Carolina, tropical storm force winds will reach the area this afternoon, accompanied by strong rain bands and the potential for tornado activity.
Minimal impacts are anticipated; however, conditions Friday afternoon will deteriorate by 2 p.m. with winds expected to reach 35 m.p.h. with gusts to 50 m.p.h. Conditions are expected to improve by 8 p.m.
There will be rough surf of 6 to 8 feet and dangerous rip currents. Stay out of the water.
Residents and guests are advised to limit travel for essential needs only, until the storm passes.
Dare County offices will close at noon on Friday.
