10 displaced after two-alarm fire in Suffolk apartment

Suffolk, Va. – A Suffolk apartment was damaged after flames ripped through the building in the 800 block of W. Constance Road at Chorey Park Apartments on Friday. Ten people were displaced.

Rescue crews received several calls from residents about a fire on the second floor. Many of the residents there were elderly or disabled and many had already evacuated the building. Firefighters also went door to door to make sure everyone was safe.

One person was taken to the hospital after complaining about difficulty breathing.

Crews were able to get the fire under control at 6:46 p.m. It was confined to one apartment which was heavily damaged.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
