(CNN) -- The Richmond International Airport reopened its terminal to the public Tuesday morning after a "serious threat" prompted a roughly three-hour evacuation, the Virginia airport said on its Twitter account.

Details of the threat, which the airport said was made by phone, weren't immediately available.

The airport evacuated its terminal and parking garages shortly after the threat was made at about 6:15 a.m., airport spokesman Troy Bell said. By 9 a.m., parking decks were cleared, and passengers could access their vehicles and leave the airport, but no flights were departing or arriving, he said.

The terminal was reopened by 9:45 a.m.

Passengers whose flights have been disrupted should contact their airline for rebooking options, the airport's Twitter account said.
