Henrico County, Va. – A Henrico family is mourning the loss of 11-year-old Frederick “Fred” Fitzgerald Jr. after his body was found in a neighborhood pool over the weekend.
According to our sister station, WTVR, the father says he jumped into the pool at the Shannon Townhomes over the weekend to find the boy, but it was too cloudy for him to see anything. Rescue crews were also unable to locate Fitzgerald.
A maintenance worker advised crews to check around the drain of the pool and the body was found.
Leasing agents tell WTVR that there is no lifeguard on duty at the pool but there is someone there who is supposed to monitor and maintain the pool.
