Newport News, Va. - A Hampton man has been charged in an early-morning hit-and-run in Newport News that left a 19-year-old man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
24-year-old Patrick Christopher Viteri has been charged with DUI, DUI refusal, and hit and run.
Police say the man was struck in the first block of Harpersville Road around 1:30am.
Witnesses at the scene gave officers a description of the vehicle and officers found it in the first block of Rutledge Road. Viteri was found inside a relative’s residence at the same location.
Viteri is currently in the custody of the Newport News City Jail. Additional charges are pending.
