Elizabeth City man wanted on sexual assault, burglary charges

Elizabeth City, N.C. – Elizabeth City police are searching for a man they say broke into a home and tried to force himself on a woman there while a child was present.

Police arrived at the home on East Burgess Street shortly after 3am and learned 19-year-old Kenneth Charles Lassiter had allegedly broken into the home and attempted to force himself onto the victim. A struggle ensued and the victim, along with her minor child and another person inside the residence were physically assaulted.

Lassiter fled before police arrived.  He faces charges of First Degree Burglary, First Degree Sexual Offense, Assault Inflicting Serious Injury with a Minor Present, Assault on a Female, and Assault on a Child Under 12.

Lassiter is described as a black male, approximately 6ft. tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds.
