Update: Body found on London Street in Portsmouth identified

Update: The body has been identified as 57-year-old David Vernon Lewis. He was homeless at the time of his death.

Portsmouth, Va. – A man’s body was found behind shrubs near the intersection of London Street and Green Street in Portsmouth on Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say there were no visible signs of foul play.

When they arrived, they found a white male who they believe could have been homeless. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives identified him but they are not releasing the man’s name until family is contacted.

The Norfolk Medical Examiner will do an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
