Virginia Beach, Va. – A 27-year-old Beach man has been charged with felony eluding police after officers say he ran from them when they tried to stop him in an SUV on Thursday morning at around 12:20 a.m.

Police say they witnessed William David Nagg, III speeding near the Oceanfront and driving recklessly. When they tried to stop him, he kept going and drove onto I-264 and through several streets in the area.

Officers lost him when he got to Muddy Creek Road, but neighbors saw the white SUV he was allegedly driving without lights on and called police.

The SUV was found abandoned at 2:30 a.m. on Stuart Road. A K-9 unit tracked Nagg in the Marshy area. Nagg was taken into custody and treated at the hospital for a dog bite.

Nagg is now in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond and is facing more charges.
