Virginia Beach man charged with strangulation

Virginia Beach, Va. – A man is now behind bars and charged with domestic assault and strangulation after an incident over the weekend, police tell NewsChannel 3.

On Sunday, June 30 at 10:30 a.m., Virginia Beach Emergency Communications received a report for a stabbing in the 400 block of Gordon Walk.

Crews arrived on scene and located a man suffering from stab wounds. EMS also responded and transported the suspect to a local hospital, police say.

Detectives learned there was a verbal altercation leading up to the stabbing. They say the suspect was trying to prevent the victim from leaving the residence. The suspect placed the victim in a strangulation hold and assaulted her.

The victim managed to leave the home, police say, and was also suffering from minor injuries.

The suspect is identified as 31-year-old Arthur Kelvin Waller of the 400 block of Gordon Walk. He is charged with Domestic Assault and Strangulation.

Waller is currently being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.

This case remains under investigation.
