A Virginia Beach woman has claimed a $150,000 prize from the Virginia Lottery.

Rashonda Kelly bought a Black Gold ticket at the 7-Eleven at 5444 Virginia Beach Boulevard.

She says she bought the ticket to cheer up her husband after he participated in a losing basketball game.

“I thought I’d won $150,” Kelly later told Lottery officials. “But as I kept scratching, I saw all those zeros.”

Kelly recently retired from the U. S. Navy. Her husband is still in the Navy. She said the couple intends to use the winnings to pay bills and save for retirement.
