Man accused of trying to use fake money at motel in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, Va. – Deangelo A. Drake, 25, has been charged with possessing counterfeit money after police say an attendant told them he tried to use fake money at the Sundial Motel on 21st Street.

The attendant told police Drake ended up paying with real money after trying to pass the counterfeit $20 bills.

During an investigation, police say they discovered that Drake may have done this at three other businesses including the New York Pizzeria on Atlantic Ave.

Drake was arrested and charged with possessing counterfeit notes, uttering counterfeit notes and obtaining money by false pretenses.

Drake is now being held in the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.
